I first became interested in investing when I received a letter in the mail from my bank as a teenager. I excitedly ripped open the letter to see I had earned $2.38 in interest. I was IRATE. There was no way I scrubbed toilets and took out trash every Saturday, saving my allowance to make 2 bucks! "There had to be a better way to make money with my savings," I told myself.
This $2.38 sparked an extreme love for finance. I gave up my dreams of becoming a doctor to pursue being a hedge fund manager. I stopped searching for colleges with great pre-med degrees and focused on schools with excellent finance programs. That switch from medicine to finance was not the last fixation change, however. I always thought of real estate investing as silly. I thought you barely made more than the mortgage, so how could it be worth it? And how does that tiny return on your cash even begin to compare to the mighty S&P 500??
My mentor challenged me to go to a real estate auction with him and read one book on real estate investing. I fell in love with the glorious mix of asset research and people focus I found with real estate. I realized just how wrong I was about the ability to serve in real estate while building a company to support my family.
Over the last 2 years, I have committed every moment I can to real estate. I have purchased 2 houses and want to flip real estate in Stillwater, OK.
This was the start of Caveman Real Estate!
